The most wonderful time of the year

Back to School

It's the most wonderful time of the year.

That's right. Back to school.

Time for the kids to meet their new teachers, make new friends, learn new things, and embark on new adventures. For some kids, all this can come with anxiety and apprehensions about what lies ahead. That is perfectly normal.

As a caring parent or guardian, you can help by simply listening to your children's joys and challenges and helping them put it all together. Sometimes it's as simple as having them take a deep breath and calming down. Sometimes, an understanding ear, not a problem-solver, is all they need. Other times, your children may need more help getting through a difficult time.

No matter what, make sure you keep an open line of communication with your children's teachers and the other professionals at their school. They want to talk to you as much as you want to talk to them. You both share a common goal — the success of your children at school and beyond.
